Our Mini Cake course is all about producing cakes in miniature, but with the same expertise and skill as we would teach you on any of our larger cake courses. This miniature cake version has been popular as individual cakes for many occasions, often given as individual gifts at Weddings, christenings or such like. With the growing interest in Cupcakes the mini cake has become redundant, however we feel the benefits of producing a fully covered cake not only adds to the shelf life, but it shows the expertise of the cake maker at a higher level.
What you will learn:
This class is all about quality not quantity. We will teach you to make mini cakes that are as exquisite and individual as you are. During the class, we will cover many techniques and skills to enable you to produce many varied designs.
You will be taught:
How to work with sponge cake and fruit cake and the differences between the two in terms of the finish you can achieve.
How to prepare, cut, split, fill, cover and finish mini cakes to produce a professional result.
How to work with sugar paste, modelling and petal paste.to produce varied results.
A range of techniques including brush embroidery, basic flowers, piping, the use of moulds, sugar painting, texturing skills and more
How to properly use boards with mini cakes.
How to attach ribbon to complete your mini cakes.
How to pipe freehand directly onto mini cakes.
How to achieve a smooth finish on a mini cake.
All techniques will be practiced on dummy mini cake during the tutoring time. After lunch you will then go on to design and create your own set of 6 mini cakes (5 round fruit and 1or 2 square Sponges depending on time). This class is all about working hands on. You won’t be watching someone else doing something – you will do everything yourself.

Time: 10:00 to around 16:00. The class starts promptly at 10.00am. Everything is explained to you step by step so there is plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
The board and box to transport home. We will provide use of all the sugarcraft tools, equipment and materials. Course attendees will receive 10% discount on items purchased in the cake decorating supplies shop on the day of your course.
