2016 was the year of shabby chic, lace, pearls, embroidery and Victorian pastel colours. The majority of my wedding cake orders for this year include at least one of these elements so we thought we’d put together a course with all of the relevant skills to fill two glorious days. We start from scratch learning how to split, fill and ice a sponge cake, how to marzipan and ice a fruit cake and how to stack them safely, whether it be two, three or six tiers. We will teach you drapes, texturing and a fabric bow plus many other skills that will be adapted to our mini cake session on day two. As well as a wedding cake we will also be decorating wedding cupcakes to compliment the main cake. You will learn how to adapt textured sugarpaste as a cupcake topper in replacement to buttercream, make miniature bows, pipe beautiful pearls, pretty piped filigree and exquisite brush embroidery lace effect.
All of these skills can be adapted between big cakes and cupcakes so you should be well equipped for any wedding cake orders falling into these beautiful 2016 trends.
This course is held in our new teaching facility “The Studio”. Free Car parking is available very nearby. “The Studio” is situated within yards of the local Bus Station and Taxi Rank, with only a 5 minute walk to the Train Station.
This course is a two day course starting at 10.00am and finishing by around 5.00pm each day.

We supply your fruit cake, sponge cake and dummy, all icings, boards and the use of all equipment needed so all you need to bring is your apron, lunch and a box to take your masterpiece home.
